Since 2018, the Children’s Museum of Acadiana has offered Free Sensory Mornings for children on the autism spectrum or with sensory sensitivities and their families. This special program provides a welcoming, sensory-friendly environment where children can explore and enjoy the museum at their own pace.

When: The Second Sunday of every month, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Please note: Some Sundays may be modified due to holidays. 

Where: Children’s Museum of Acadiana; 201 E. Congress St., Downtown Lafayette

Cost: Admission is free for children on the autism spectrum or with sensory sensitivities and their families. Each session is limited to 50 visitors at a time. 

We open the museum early to reduce crowds and noise, creating a peaceful environment. Exhibits and areas with bright lights or loud sounds will be modified to be more sensory-friendly. Interactive and engaging activities tailored to support sensory processing and social interaction.

This initiative is made possible thanks to the generous contributions from our community during the 2024 SOLA Giving Day. Your support allows us to offer these special mornings at no cost to families, ensuring that all children can benefit from the museum’s enriching experiences.
