Learning through play

Each year the Children’s Museum of Acadiana works hard to present exciting field trip experiences to students and teachers across the more than 37 parishes it serves! Field Trips are available Monday through Friday. Note: Monday field trips require a minimum of 80 paying students. If you would like to book a field trip please review the information below and then fill out a field trip request form or call the Museum at (337) 232-8500.

 

Exploration Expedition

1.5-2 hours, K-3rd Grade

Our original hands-on field trip is designed to inspire curiosity, spark imagination, and nurture discovery! Self-guided learning through a child-sized world! 90-minute or 2-hour experience available.

100th Day Celebration

1.5 hours, k-1st Grade

The CMA celebrates the 100th day of school during January and February. Museum exhibits feature math related activities such as counting by ones, fives, and tens, embracing creative hands-on learning designed to showcase and celebrate the number 100!

Got Math?

2 hours, 3rd- 4th Grade

The CMA’s unique exhibits bring classroom math skills to life. Math is made fun! Students explore word problems, data collection, geometry,and multiplication through a series of games and activities that reinforce specific standards. It’s learning by doing!

Can’t bring your students to the CMA? Let us bring the CMA to you! Turn your classroom into a STEAM adventure. Our education team has developed hands-on 45 minute program that can be delivered in your k-5th grade classrooms!

Money Wise: Earn. Spend. Save

2 hours, 1st – 2nd grade

Young learners discover what it means to earn, spend, and save money during this financial focused field trip. Students identify specific coins and spend the pretend money as they “pay” to play.

Touch! Look! Listen! Learn!

2 hours, prek – k Grade

Using a book reading, manipulatives, and costumes for dramatic play, students become more than 12 community helpers. Real-life and hands-on activities provide students with many opportunities to identify colors,shapes,sounds and much more.
