Imagine a place where time bends and the strike of midnight arrives early, with a burst of confetti that turns the sky into a kaleidoscope of colors! New Yea’rs Noon at the CMA is a spectacle crafted for the youngest among us, and it’s the place to be as we bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new.

Get your tickets for $16 per person; children 12 months and under get in free. Members get 50% off.

What’s on the lineup, you ask? Prepare to be mesmerized by the rhythmic beats of the New Natives Brass Band, the infectious tunes of the TMM Project, and a dance party hosted by the one and only Legend the DJ. And keep your eyes peeled for the incredible Bacon Stilt Walker, a walking marvel that’ll have you giggling with every step!

Step right up to the nostalgia-filled world of old-school carnival games! Dive into a frenzy of fun with “Silly Birds” – a game of wit, boxes, and balls. Test your aim at “Can Toss” and experience the thrill of the “Dino Dig” as you unearth treasures in the dino pit filled with sand. Sharpen your shooting skills at “Hoop Shoot” with a classic basketball goal and ball.

Reel in the excitement at the “KOA Catch of the Day” fishing game or try your luck at the “Toilet Paper Toss” – a quirky challenge featuring a toilet and rolls of toilet paper. Aim high and aim true with “High Sticker” or make a splash with “Duck Match” at the pool of ducks.

Challenge your strategic mind at “Giant Tic-Tac-Toe” or bounce into joy at the “Carnival Fun Jump.” Channel your inner artist with “Spin Art” and celebrate in style with “Confetti poppers.”

Q1: When and where is the event taking place?
A1: NYN will be held on December 31 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana. Performances and games are held outside in the CMA parking lot; exhibits are available to play inside. 

Q2: How much are entry tickets, and what do they include?
A2: Entry Tickets are $16 per person, with free admission for children 12 months and under. Wristbands include access to the countdown celebration, performances by various artists, participation in carnival games, and entry into our exhibit spaces. Additionally, wristbands come with a New Year’s hat and noisemaker.

Q3: Are there discounts for museum members?
A3: Absolutely! Museum members enjoy a special half-off discount on their entry wristbands. It’s our way of saying thank you for your continued support!

Q4: What entertainment can we expect during the event?

Q8: What time does the countdown to noon take place?
A8: The grand countdown to noon, accompanied by a burst of confetti, will take place right on time. Join us as we usher in the new year a little earlier than the rest of the world!

Q9: Can I bring my own noisemakers and hats?
A9: No need! Your entry wristbands come with a New Year’s hat and noisemaker, ensuring you’re fully equipped to join in the festive spirit.

Q10: Is there parking available at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana?
A10: Yes, there is ample parking available near the museum. We recommend arriving a bit early to secure a convenient spot, We highly suggest parking at the Vermillion parking tower right across from the CMA. 

Q11: Are strollers allowed?
A10: Yes and No, strollers are allowed for outside festivities. However, we ask that you park your stroller at the front desk upon entering the museum. 

Q12: Is there an age limit for participating in the carnival games and activities?                                                                                   A12: Not at all! The carnival games and activities are designed for children of all ages, ensuring that everyone, from the littlest tots to the young-at-heart, can join in the festivities.

Q13: What happens if it rains on the day of the event?                                                                                                                             A13: Rain or shine, the carnival goes on! In the event of inclement weather, we have contingency plans and covered areas to ensure the celebration continues smoothly.

Q14: Is there a lost and found area at the event?                                                                                                                                       A14: Yes, we have a designated lost and found area at the Front Desk inside the Museum. If you misplace something during the festivities, head there, and our staff will be happy to assist you in locating your items.

Spring Fling

Hop on over to the CMA for a Spring Fling Day of fun. Our spring celebration is filled with eggstra-special experiences and activities. Meet and greet selfies with the Easter Bunny, keepsake egg decorating, crafts, fluffy slime, and MORE! From bunny tails to carrot tops, spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party!

CMA Day of Play with with ACM and Nickelodeon!

Join the Children’s Museum of Acadiana, in partnership with the Association of Children’s Museums and Nickelodeon, for Our World: Worldwide Day of Play on September 30, 2023! From 10 am to 2 pm, you can explore exciting indoor and outdoor activities such as an obstacle course from Cajun Slides, 2KB petting zoo, slime and STEAM stations, and many more activities from Parish Proud, Lafayette Ready Start, and Macaroni Kid Lafayette. Cold treats will be available for purchase from 7 Kids Ice Cream Truck, and Dip and Dabble will offer face painting.

You can buy tickets ahead of time for $5 per person or pay $10 at the gates. CMA members and children under twelve months get in for free. Discounts are not applicable for special events.
 
Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s Our World global initiative to inspire kids and provide them with tools to activate their individual and collective agency. As part of a network of more than 300 ACM member children’s museums who reach millions of families in North America and the more than 1,000 museums participating in Museums for All, a national access initiative that ACM manages, the Children’s Museum of Acadiana is a vital collaborator in the Our World: Worldwide Day of Play.

What is the Nickelodeon Day of Play?

This is a special event where families and children can come together to enjoy a day of adventure and exploration!

What time does the event start and end?

The event starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM, so feel free to come anytime within those hours.

Are there additional costs?

Ice cream truck: 7 Kids ice cream will have different treats available for an additional cost between $2 – $10. 

Face painting: Dip and Dabble face painting and body art by Qui will have face painting available for an additional cost between $5 – $10.

Where is the event located?

The event is held at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana – 201 E. Congress St. (Check-in entrance on Taylor St.)

Is parking available, and is there a cost?

The CMA parking lot is closed for activities on the day of play. Parking is available off-street at metered parking spaces located throughout Downtown or at the LCG Vermilion Street Parking garage. (Located across the street from Parc Sans Souci at 121 E Vermilion Street).

Where are Check-in and wristbanding?

Gates open at 10:00 am – Only one entry point is available – the Taylor Street parking lot entrance. CMA staff will confirm your reservation by your first and last name.

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Yes, tickets will be available for purchase at the gate on the day of the event for $10 each. Cash or Card

Is this event suitable for toddlers/young children/older kids?

Yes, the event is designed to cater to a wide range of age groups, with activities suitable for toddlers, young children, and older kids.

Are food and beverages available for purchase?

7 Kids Ice Cream Truck will be available for ice cream and coffee purchases. Water and Powerade will be sold at the CMA gift shop. We suggest exploring the many restaurants in the downtown area for food.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the museum, except for those with dietary needs or infants. Please use Harmony Park for eating.

Is the event accessible for individuals with disabilities?

Yes, we strive to make our events accessible to everyone. Please let our staff know if you require any specific accommodations.

Are there restroom facilities available?

Yes, our restrooms are located inside the museum behind the Bubble Factory Exhibit.. 

What should I bring to the event?

We recommend bringing sunscreen, hats, comfortable clothing, and a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Indoor and outdoor activities will be available to enjoy. 

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, strollers are allowed, but please be mindful of crowded areas and consider using designated stroller parking when necessary.

Twinkle Light Night 2023

Come and join us for the annual Twinkle Light Night event at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana! On December 1, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, we’ll be transforming the museum into a dazzling wonderland that you and your loved ones won’t want to miss.

You’ll be mesmerized by the incredibly talented Elizabeth “Lady Chops” Vidos and her musical skills. There will be arts and crafts stations where you can unleash your inner artist and create your holiday magic. You can also indulge in the delightful cookie decorating world and turn ordinary cookies into edible masterpieces.

And that’s not all! Santa Claus himself will be making a special stop at Twinkle Light Night! Bring your kids, wish lists, and holiday spirit because Santa is here for a magical meet and greet to warm your hearts and create lifelong memories.

Twinkle Light Night is sponsored by Acadiana Security Plus and also by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
