Arts in Action!
From November 21st, 2023, to July 2024, the CMA will host over 20 artists from a wide range of artistic disciplines to perform and engage Museum guests at 25+ performances over eight months. Artists secured to perform at the CMA include the band Poisson Rouge, stilt performer Lauren Cabera as “The Amazing Bacon,” New Natives Brass Band, The TMM Project, musician Herb “Pucci” Green of Pucci Percussion, Ashley Dugas of Cajun Dance Lessons, Elizabeth Vedros as “Lady Chops,” Wink Danenburg who juggles, dancers from Basin Arts and Fire Expressions Performing Arts Conservatory, and many other wonderful artists ready to engage children in artistic expression.
“Arts in Action” is supported by corporate sponsor Acadiana Security Plus and a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment of the Arts.

Les Mardi Gras ca Vient (Grades K–5)
In this session students will learn all about the history of Mardi Gras! People in our communities continue many of the traditional customs, and the Courir du Mardi Gras is one of them. A common feature of the Courir du Mardi Gras is the performance of a Mardi Gras song. In this session we will learn about the Mardi Gras song, its origins, the French lyrics and their interpretation, and Cajun and Creole variations.
