Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Reinforce lessons presented by the education coordinator by reviewing material with students in small or large groups
- Enforce museum rules to help ensure a fun and safe trip.
- Help set-up before trips arrival by getting materials ready or setting up equipment
- Help supervise students in groups or in exhibits
- Warmly greet all visitors by creating a welcoming and friendly environment
- Anticipate and respond to visitor needs by providing accurate and helpful information about the Museum and its offerings
- Make the extra effort to find information and provide assistance to guests’ questions and needs. Proactively and continuously finds ways to enhance the guest experience at the CMA
- Move throughout assigned exhibits, proactively assisting guests with questions, and interacting with them regarding the exhibits and associated educational content
- Monitor exhibits for safety and cleanliness, including restocking supplies and picking up toys and props
- Enforce all museum manners and museum policies
- Assist in the facilitation of educational programs and activities
- Assist in the group arrival and departure process
- Perform all opening and closing duties for exhibits
- Light cleaning of exhibit props and costumes
- Prepare supplies and materials for art projects
- Assist in hosting birthday parties
- Occasionally assist with special events and offsite promotions
- Perform other duties as required by management
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Morning availability REQUIRED
- High School Degree or equivalent required
- Superior customer service skills and strategies
- Ability to interact with guests of all ages, especially young children
- Must be a team player, dedicated to shared responsibility for success, and an “all hands on deck” attitude
- Comfortable and natural ability to sell museum offerings
- Must be extremely detail-oriented and possess the ability to coordinate complex schedules with the ability to work independently
- Strong listening skills, the ability to be comfortable with asking questions, and explaining somewhat complicated policies, procedures, options, and offerings to guests in a friendly, straightforward way, making it easy for guests to have an exceptional museum experience
- Occasional weekend and evening work required
