Weekend Play Facilitator Lead

Weekend Play Facilitator Lead

Salary: $13 – $15 DOE

Hours: Part-time – Friday/Saturday/Sunday – 8:30 am – 6:00 pm

Supervisor: Guest Experience Director

Location: Children’s Museum of Acadiana, 201 East Congress St., Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana 70501

The Play Facilitator Lead collaborates with the Guest Experience Director to play a key role in the Museum’s day-to-day operations. Play Facilitators work primarily on the Museum floor in all exhibition galleries, interacting with children and adults as they play within the Museum and managing the play facilitors to carry out task and ensure upkeep on exhbits. Additionally, Play Facilitators lead activities and programs while maintaining the highest standards of friendly, helpful, and responsive guest service at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Positively engage and interact with children through play throughout the Museum;
● Constantly circulate in assigned exhibit areas and respond promptly to visitor needs;
● Maintain Museum floor and exhibits;
● Assist visitors by providing pertinent information regarding Museum exhibits, programs, and
services;
● Perform Museum opening and/or closing procedures;
● Enforce Museum policies and safety rules in all exhibit areas;
● Communicate well with visitors. Remain polite, courteous and helpful;
● Be a strong team player with a proactive attitude;
● Complete assignments in a timely manner and within the Museum’s standards; and
● Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
● Demonstrated experience working with children ages 0-10 in classrooms, museums, recreational
settings, and/or afterschool programs;
● Currently enrolled in or has completed coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child
Development, or equivalent preferred;
● Must be flexible with work schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings;
● Expertise in art and science education for early learners is highly desirable;
● Advanced communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to stay composed in stressful
and complex situations.
● Ability to think strategically and creatively, but also pragmatically and with careful attention to
detail.
● Ability and willingness to take initiative, problem-solve, and do what it takes to get the job done.
● Great interpersonal skills and ability to represent the organization
● Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Children’s Museum of Acadiana

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

● Sitting or standing for extended periods

● Lifting objects up to 25 pounds with or without assistance

● Noise level is generally moderate

● Indoor and outdoors in varying temperatures

Field Trip Facilitator

Field Trip Facilitator – Children’s Museum of Acadiana, Lafayette, LA

Salary: $9 – 13 DOE

Hours: Part-time/ Tuesday – Friday ranging from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

Supervisor: Program Manager

Location: Children’s Museum of Acadiana, 201 East Congress St., Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana 70501

The Field Trip Facilitator collaborates with the program manager to provide programmatic support for a variety of museum programs, particularly for the Field Trip program. They will provide a rich and memorable play and learning experience for all Field Trip guests, including students, teachers, and adult chaperones.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Greet and welcome each school group as they arrive for field trips.
● Clearly communicate and build rapport with teachers and chaperones during visits.
● Facilitate Enrichment Experiences and maintain inventory and replenish Enrichment
Experience materials weekly.
● During museum play, engage students in the exploration of museum exhibits and with
helping to restore props.
● Assist with setting up and resetting rooms for Field trips and the general program uses.
● Ensure the safety of all guests and follow museum safety and emergency protocol as
needed.
● Maintain clear communication with Guest Experience Team (including Front Desk and
Play Facilitors) throughout Field Trip visit to ensure the harmonious play experience of
general museum guests and school groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly & professional demeanor.
    ● Prior experience working in environments serving children and families required.
    ● Excellent attention to detail and ability to solve problems flexibly in a changing
    environment.
    ● Currently enrolled in or has completed coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child
    Development, or equivalent preferred;
    ● Advanced communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to stay composed in
    stressful and complex situations.
    ● Ability to think strategically and creatively, but also pragmatically and with careful
    attention to detail.
    ● Ability and willingness to take initiative, problem-solve, and do what it takes to get the job
    done.
