Louisiana Crafts Guild Artist Demo

Demonstration at Children's Museum- Phyllis Lear

Join Louisiana Crafts Guild Artisan Phyllis Lear, as she will demonstrate creating and painting a floor cloth. 

June 13th from 10 am till noon.


 

Phyllis Lear was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana -;the heart of Cajun Country. She attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and earned a degree in Art and Industrial Arts Education. Lear taught high school art for 15 years then decided to retire and earn advanced degrees in art. She holds an M.A. in studio from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, an M.A. in art history from Louisiana State University and an M.F.A. from Louisiana Tech University.Lear received five Acadiana Arts Council Grants for teachers. She was honored with the Acadiana Arts Council Outstanding Use of Arts in Education School AwardLiaison Teacher from 1989 to 1991. Lear has a Type A, Masters +30 teaching license from the state of Louisiana. In 2005, Lear received the Visual Artist Fellowship from the Louisiana Division of the Arts. Her drawing/collages have been exhibited throughout the United States. Private collectors from Toronto to New Orleans exhibit her art in their homes and businesses. Lear exhibits her work at the Baton Rouge Gallery, Gallery 549 in Lafayette, The Brunner Gallery in Covington and Sans Souci in Lafayette. She lives in Natchitoches, Louisiana where she is an art history professor at Northwestern State University.
